This week JATNQ pays tribute to pianist McCoy Tyner who passed away in March this year at the age of 81. I first encountered Tyner’s playing on the very first Jazz album I bought way back in 1968, at the tender age of 17. The Album, John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme. Been loving Jazz ever since.
Also this week, we again dig into the realms of Hip Hop Jazz, with tracks from, Aaron Steinberg and Jazz Liberatorz, as well as the usual mix of stuff from the likes of, Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, Jessi Lehtonen, Per Thornberg and the very first female instrumentalist signed by Blue Note in 1971, flautist Bobbi Humphrey.
