Jazz At The Northern Quarter Vol 32 (Verve Records)

This week JATNQ takes a look at the Verve Record label, another important label in the promotion of Jazz music over the years.
Founded in 1956 by Norman Granz, the then manager of Ella Fitzgerald. Eventually selling it to MGM in 1961. The labels catalog grew throughout the 50’s and 60’s and boasted a very impressive roaster of major figures in Jazz, with likes of, Wes Montgomery ft The Wynton Kelly Trio, Cal Tjader, Ben Webster, Mark Whitfield, Jimmy Smith and many more.
