Mike Casey 11th February 2016 669 Mike Casey presents Jazz At The Northern Quarter Tuesday 10.00 till 11.00 pm My first encounter with Jazz was in 1967 at the tender age of 16, up until that time my music taste was purely Soul Music. John Coltrane's A Love Supreme started it off. I then went on journey of discovery, Miles Davis, Wes Mongomery, Ornette Coleman, the list goes on. I think I am still stuck in that time music wise, with the Soul and Jazz. Also, A Living Tradition Saturday 08.00 till 09.00 pm Always had love of mainly Irish Traditional/Folk music, which eventually led to Scottish, English and the wider Celtic music community. Lived in Scotland and Ireland for a good few years and got a real feel for the music, the jigs, reels and airs. Folk song always has a story to to tell, wether it be social issues, the love of the land, the sea, immigration or a love lost.
